After three years as the Miami Beach Bowl, the bowl game moves to Frisco, Texas for the 2017 season. Now owned and operated by ESPN Events, the DXL Frisco Bowl will be played at the 20,500-seat Toyota Stadium. Toyota Stadium is already the host site for the Football Championship Subdivision [FCS] championship game as well as FC Dallas of Major League Soccer. The DXL Frisco Bowl becomes the 14th bowl under the ESPN Events umbrella.
The Miami Beach Bowl was held at Marlins Park in Miami from 2014-16, with an American Athletic Conference team facing an opponent from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference or the Sun Belt Conference. Memphis won the inaugural event in 2014, followed by Western Kentucky in 2015 and Tulsa in 2016.
