BIRMINGHAM BOWL

BIRMINGHAM BOWL

Southern hospitality is real and when it is said that the south will “give you the shirt off their back,” it’s usually true — at least metaphorically speaking. The Birmingham Bowl is proud to support the local community. Since 2006, the Birmingham Bowl has generated an economic impact of more than $130 million for the Birmingham area. And, through the bowl’s partnership with the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, they’ve donated $250,000 to the Crippled Children’s Foundation, which has provided vital medical services to children in need. Played in historic Legion Field, this bowl game allows fans to stand where legends have stood. The Birmingham Bowl offers the excitement and energy of a big city and the warmth and comfort of a little town. Add that with southern hospitality and you get something that is undoubtedly BIGGER THAN THE GAME.

MORE
  • Legion Field was the site of the Hall of Fame Bowl from 1977-85 and the All-American Bowl from 1986-90. The stadium also served as the location for the “Iron Bowl,” the annual gridiron battle between Alabama and Auburn, from 1948-88.
  • The former Big East Conference has dominated the bowl since its inception, compiling a 5-1 overall record. The first Big East loss in the Compass Bowl came in 2012 when SMU topped Pittsburgh 28-6.
  • Only two times in the ten-year history of the bowl have been decided by a single-touchdown margin, one coming in 2008 when Rutgers defeated North Carolina State 29-23 and then again in January of 2015 when Florida defeated ECU 28-20.
