Mike Gottfried, who served college football as a longtime coach, television analyst and bowl game founder, is the third member of the 2019 Football Bowl Association Hall of Fame.
 
            Add to those achievements his founding of Team Focus, and you get a great view of the depth that is Gottfried.  He and his wife, Mickey, began Team Focus in 2000.  It is a comprehensive mentoring program for fatherless boys and young men.  The goal is to provide leadership skills, guidance, Godly values and a continual relationship with a mentor.  Since its inception, more than 4,000 young men have been served throughout the United States.
 
            During his coaching days, Gottfried had stops at Murray State, Cincinnati, Kansas and Pittsburgh.  During his Pitt tenure, 1986-89, he compiled a 26-17-2 record that included two wins each over Notre Dame, Penn State and West Virginia.  Overall as a college coach, he was 77-54-6.
 
            Gottfried in 1990 joined ESPN as a game analyst.  He worked primarily the network's Thursday and Saturday evening prime time games.
 
            He's the author of three books on football and has been a sought-after motivational speaker.  Along the bowl trail, he helped found the GMAC Bowl in Mobile, the game currently known as the Lending Tree Bowl.
 
            A well-respected offensive football innovator, Gottfried in 1991 co-wrote the World League of American Football's offensive playbook in conjunction with the legendary Hall of Famer Bill Walsh.
 
        Gottfried is the third of five recipients for this year's FBA Hall of Fame.
 
            George Olsen, longtime Gator Bowl executive director; and former Fiesta/Holiday Bowl executive director John Reid were previously-announced  inductees, with two more to be announced in the coming days.
 
            This is the second FBA Hall of Fame class.  The 2018 inductees included Bud Dudley, Liberty Bowl; Field Scovell, Cotton Bowl; Fred Digby/Warren Miller, Sugar Bowl; and Earnie Seiler, Orange Bowl.
